DESCRIPTION
    This function writes the first character in data to the file
    associated with fd.

EXAMPLE
    > fd = fopen("/tmp/newfile", "w")
    > fputc(fd, "c")
    > fd2 = fopen("/tmp/newfile", "r")
    > fgetc(fd2)
	    "c"

LIMITS
    fd must be associated with an open file
